The former victim of romance fraud Cecilie Fjellhøy collaborates with a private investigator Brianne Joseph to investigate the romance frauds happened with men and women to help other victims reclaim their lives.
Cecilie Fjellhøy’s personal experience with a notorious romance fraudster was featured in The Tinder Swindler. Using her previous experience, Fjellhøy and Brianne Joseph set a mission to unmask the romance scammers and help the victims in all the possible ways.
“I had never imagined that my personal experience would resonate the way it has,” Fjellhøy told Netflix. However “Since The Tinder Swindler, I’ve heard about it from many people in world who have been targeted by criminals to grab their money. Love Con Revenge is an opportunity for me to use what I have learned to help others issues, reclaim their voices and their lives.”
What Is Romance Fraud
When any scammer or a fraudster creates a fake relationships by gaining the trust of the victims and ultimately grabs the money or personal information is known as the romance fraud or romance scam. The initial step to target the victims is fake online dating apps with fake profiles. Few reports shows that such romance fraud crimes have cost Americans more than $1 billion annually.
It is one of the financial and emotional scams in which a culprit pretends to have romantic emotions to gain victim’s trust and then exploits that trust to steal money or personal information. Hence “Love Con Revenge” is a new Netflix series that deep dives into the cases of romance fraud, following real-life victims and exposing scam tactics with a focus on helping the victims seeking for help.
