The Six Triple Eight – Historical Background
During 1945, World War-II this battalion came to England to solve a postal crisis to clear a two-year pending postal backlog in UK. They set a cruise from America moving towards the UK and finally settled in Birmingham and joined the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion which was a challenging job. According to the battalion if there is no mail then it is a low morale.
The Six Triple Eight also known as “The 6888” is the battalion of Central Postal Directory in the U.S. Army. This battalion is the group of black women who served abroad in the World War II. The documentary shows the dedication and the commitment of the battalion to sort and distribute the mails to the American soldiers. It is a tribute to their contribution during World War II to tackle the situation of sorting huge amount of mails on a top priority to reach it to the right person in the limited time frame.

Kerry Washington plays a lead role of Major Charity Adams. She handles the panic situation and of the war zone and commands her battalion of women soldiers and energize them before their training.
